Late Night Comedy
Before my first son, plenty of people warned me about the obstacles and the emptying that motherhood brings. So many that I girded myself, preparing to embrace the weight of this eternal endeavor with all the solemnity it deserves. And all those challenges have been what I expected.
What has surprised me is how much I laugh.

my daughter told me.

I deeply want what I create within my mothering to praise God, but, let’s be real – my magnificat is not going to be some shiny glorious song, it’s going to vacillate between a do-this-NOW tone and a ragged lullaby, between silly giggles and raspy, sobbing prayers. It is (and has been and will be) MESSY.
